As a twenty one years old Computer engineering student from Macedonia, I, Angela Petruseva, have entered this volunteering project that mainly focuses on people with disabilities.
Growing up in a smaller city, I have seen a lot of situations where people have been discriminating, socially excluding or oppressing other people because of their disabilities, political or religious views, level of education, sexual orientation, their position in society, skin color, financial situation, and so on.This project made me realize that people with special needs face various of difficulties not only caused by the inevitable treatment of some people around, but also by the inaccessibility of different objects, public transportation, not enough care from the institutions, etc.
My wishes include people to be more understanding, tolerating, accepting, inclusive, open minded and not to judge other people based on their inability to do certain kinds of things, but to appreciate what they can do. I want to raise awareness all the people to be equally involved in the social processes such as getting a proper education, choosing a career path and having a variety of opportunities.
