The project Advancing Youth Work in the Green Transition addresses a structural gap in youth work practice. While the green transition is a strategic priority under the EU Green Deal and Erasmus+ 2026, youth work organisations — particularly small NGOs — lack structured methodologies to translate environmental priorities into practical employability pathways for young people with fewer opportunities. NEET youth face limited access to career guidance, weak professional networks and low awareness of emerging green sectors. Youth work therefore needs a validated, transferable mentoring approach linking sustainability learning with realistic career orientation and inclusion support.
 
Overall objective: To advance the quality and professionalisation of youth work in the green transition by developing, piloting and validating one consolidated output: the Green Jobs & Youth Work Mentorship Framework (including 15 session plans and 5 mentoring tools as annexes).
 
Objective 1 – Strengthen youth worker competences To build the capacity of 15 staff participants (12 youth workers and 3 coordinators) in green labour market mapping, inclusive mentoring, circular economy education, micro-initiative incubation and stakeholder engagement. Outcome: Increased competence and confidence to deliver structured mentoring for NEET youth, supported by shared quality standards. Target: at least 80% measurable improvement against pre-project baseline.
 
Objective 2 – Develop and validate an innovative youth work methodology To co-create, test and refine a transferable mentorship framework applicable across different local contexts. Outcome: 1 validated Framework field-tested with 60 NEET youth across three countries and refined based on implementation evidence and roundtable feedback.
 
Objective 3 – Improve structured support for NEET youth To provide 60 NEET youth (20 per country) with mentoring-based career mapping and practical learning linked to local green sectors. Outcome: 60 Green Career Action Plans, at least 9 mentored micro-initiatives and at least 50% of participants documenting a concrete next step toward employment, VET enrolment or volunteering.
 
Objective 4 – Strengthen cross-sector cooperation and sustainability To engage 30 key stakeholders (10 per country) through structured dialogue and establish at least one documented follow-up cooperation pathway per country. Outcome: Stronger partnerships between youth organisations and local green/employment actors, confirmed through written stakeholder commitments and roundtable minutes.
 
Link to Erasmus+ 2026 priorities The project addresses "Environment and fight against climate change" by translating EU Green Deal objectives into inclusive green career pathways. It responds to "Inclusion and diversity" by targeting NEET youth facing social, economic and educational barriers. It addresses "Digital transformation" through open-access digital publication of the Framework and youth workers' use of digital tools.
