YOUTH EXCHANGE: AI & Appetite The Culinary Journey

Dates: 12-20 October 2025 - Venue/Country: Fethiye/Turkiye

Activities Implemented:
The exchange activities of AI & Appetites: A Culinary Journey were based on non-formal education and experiential learning, using food as a universal way to explore culture, identity, and connection.
Participants shared personal and cultural food stories through storytelling sessions, fostering intercultural dialogue and empathy. Hands-on cooking workshops and digital creation labs combined culinary practice with creative tools, including food photography, Canva design, video editing, and AI-assisted recipe creation.
Before the exchange, participants interviewed older community members to collect traditional recipes and food stories, which were shared during the exchange and contributed to a final digital e-cookbook. Daily reflection sessions supported learning, emotional expression, and group evaluation.
The programme also included community cleanup actions and the celebration of Erasmus Day in partnership with Fethiye Municipality and Egebil High School, strengthening local engagement and active citizenship.

Results:
Culinary Journey exchange achieved strong educational, cultural, and digital results. Participants used food storytelling to express identity and heritage, strengthening empathy and intercultural understanding through oral, visual, and digital narratives. Hands-on cooking sessions, digital creation labs, and AI-assisted recipe activities enhanced culinary competencies, creativity, and digital skills.
The project enabled participants to explore traditional cooking practices, sustainable food habits, and intergenerational knowledge, highlighting the role of everyday culture in shaping identity. Youth leadership and digital literacy were strengthened, supporting initiatives that promote social, environmental, and economic sustainability.
Concrete results included a full-day Erasmus+ Day School event on “AI and Appetite” with over 90 participants, two community clean-up actions in collaboration with local partners, thematic workshops on food security and food waste, and a digital e-cookbook featuring participant-created recipes, stories, and AI-generated content. The project outcomes were further amplified through media coverage, including online publications and radio broadcasts.
Overall, the project increased intercultural awareness, practical skills, digital competence, and local community engagement.
