Description

Through “Youth for a Better Future,” we aim to foster social cohesion by promoting a sense of belonging within the local community and European space, advocating for equality among community members, and encouraging active participation in decision-making at all levels. Volunteers will support the physical development of facilities of the future youth center “Horizons.” Their primary tasks will involve engaging in physical development and arrangement of the space, which includes assembling, organizing, and maintaining facilities, planting trees, arranging green spaces. Also, volunteers will participate in preparation of materials for thematic workshops, activities, events, supporting facilitators who coordinate youth activities and working with the local community.

Accommodation, food and transport arrangements

Based on the ESC budget, each volunteer receives 120 Euros/month pocket money and a 150 Euros/month food and basic needs allowance. Volunteers will be accommodated in Targoviste area, in shared rooms (non-smokers rooms), with shared bathrooms and access to a common kitchen. The travel to Romania and back will be reimbursed based on the travel documents and program rules. Volunteers will be free during Spring (Easter) holiday and other legal days. Training during the activity

Volunteers will receive pre-departure training which will be provided by support and hosting organization. At the start of the volunteering program the training will be continued with thematic sessions carried out by volunteer coordinator. The hosting organization will support volunteers with proper preparation to carry out the tasks, with mentoring and constant feedback. Lessons of local language will also be provided.

Participant profile

This volunteering position require interested persons in the field of youth personal and professional development, community development and youth activities. The volunteers must be open-minded, proactive, motivated to learn and develop personally and professionally, also to be sociable persons. Volunteers must be open to move in a small city and support the host organization in its daily work with the local community. English skills, B2 – level is required, also willingness to learn Romanian language. The project focuses on inclusion and will emphasize the participation of volunteers who face various socio-economic, geographical, cultural and other barriers.
