S&G Volunteers Attend Mid-Term Evaluation Meeting in Adana
Between 21–23 October, three of our ESC long-term volunteers (Angelo, Emil, Aytaj) participated in the Mid-Term Evaluation Meeting held in Adana, organized by the Turkish National Agency.
During the meeting, our volunteers had the opportunity to evaluate their volunteering journey and reflect on their personal and professional development throughout the process. They deepened their understanding of the roles and responsibilities of themselves, their sending and hosting organizations, as well as the National Agency.
Together with nearly 40 other volunteers from different cities, they engaged in intercultural exchange, strengthened friendships, and shared ideas and experiences. In addition, they enjoyed exploring Adana’s rich cultural heritage, tasting traditional Turkish cuisine, and forming new connections. The entire event was successfully organized by the Turkish National Agency, providing a valuable learning and networking experience for all participants.

The Role of Volunteering and Digital Technologies for the Future of NGOs in Europe
Bruxelles, September 4, 2025 – The debate on the future of NGOs in Europe is increasingly intertwined with two key factors: digitalization and the strategic recognition of volunteering as a pillar of democracy and social cohesion.
Gürkan Akcaer to Speak at Europe’s Largest Economic Forum
Gürkan Akçaer, known for his expertise in civil society and digital transformation, has been invited as a speaker to the XXIV Economic Forum, which will take place in Karpacz, Poland, on 2–4 September 2025.
Organized by the Foundation Institute for Eastern Studies, the Forum has been the largest international conference in Central and Eastern Europe for more than 30 years. Each year it brings together over 6,000 political, economic, and civil society leaders from around the world, fostering dialogue on key regional and global challenges.
Akçaer will join the discussion panel titled “NGOs in the Digital Age: How Are Technologies Changing the Way They Work?”. The panel will explore how NGOs across Europe are using digital tools to increase their effectiveness and reach, while also addressing challenges such as data management, privacy protection, and online security.
The Economic Forum is widely followed by international media, with its debates and declarations resonating in political and expert circles long after the event ends. Akçaer’s participation is expected to contribute valuable insights into the digitalization of civil society.
