The public library located at Şehit Fethi Bey Park, which had been left neglected for a long time, was renovated and cleaned by ESC volunteers. Thanks to the volunteers’ efforts, the library was transformed into a welcoming and organized public space for both residents and students.

During the restoration project, books donated by different institutions were carefully placed on the shelves. The collection now includes English, German, and Russian language books, Turkish storybooks for children, and educational materials for high school students. The open-access library allows everyone to freely borrow books, sit by the seaside, and enjoy reading or studying in a peaceful environment.

Spanish ESC volunteer Alex expressed his surprise and admiration for the project with the following words:

“The fact that these books are freely available to the public and students is a very unique practice. If there were such a system in Spain, probably none of the books would still be there the next day.”

The project attracted positive attention from local residents and visitors, while also encouraging reading culture, social responsibility, and community solidarity in Fethiye.

In addition to the library project, local volunteers participated in a theater workshop with young people at Fethiye Cultural Center. During the event, rehearsal performances of the plays Kafes and Çıplak Aslan were carried out.

The local volunteers, who are closely interested in the arts, shared detailed feedback with theater students by discussing both the strengths and areas for improvement in their performances. They also took part in stage rehearsals themselves and exchanged ideas about the fine points and techniques of theater arts.
