It is always good to see your colleagues after a longer time of being apart - especially when these colleagues have also become your friends.
This is exactly how it felt when we welcomed our dear VOLU-MENT partners at our venue in Fethiye on 10th of May.
VOLU-MENT: Mental Health through Volunteering Project is created with the aim of recognising the decreasing of community activity and mental condition of the youth by focusing on raising awareness of volunteering reinforced by mental support, empowering staff coordinating/mentoring young volunteers, and providing practical methods of mental support.
The project is led by our Hungarian partner, Talentum Foundation, and carried out as a partnership project between the four organisations and countries; Talentum Foundation (Hungary), Embaixada de Juventude (Portugal), Droni (Georgia), and System and Generation (Türkiye).
Last year, we had our first in-person meeting in Budapest, hosted by Talentum Foundation. This time is was our turn to host our dear colleagues for the second in-person meeting in Fethiye in West of Türkiye.
On 11th of May, we kicked off the first day of our second offline VOLU-MENT meeting. We started the day with introductions, partner check-ins, expectations, and collaborative and inclusivity principles. Then we looked back at our work so far, reflecting on lessons learned from practice cases and capacity assessment, and how to use it in the next phases of the project. Each partner also presented their national narrative report and action plan by country SWOT, summing up the volunteering surveys for each country. Following the presentations, partners reflected on similarities and differences between the countries. Finally, we closed the research part by recognising each others’ great contributions so far.
The day ended with a Turkish dinner that took place in the local community of Fethiye.
