The project, hosted by Villa Elba, brings together 18 young people from across Europe. The main goal is to bring the Christmas spirit to the local community by organizing a magical event called "Tonttupolku" (the Elf Path) for local kindergartens, families, and other visitors.
Throughout the project, the volunteers play a key role in preparing the Elf Path. Our representatives are involved in various tasks, including painting wooden elves, crafting Christmas decorations, setting up lights, and making necessary repairs along the trail. They are also planning interactive activities for children, such as the "elf dance" and "peeking through windows" , and will fully embrace the role of elves during the event to create an unforgettable experience for the community.
S&G representatives Onur and Orçun are successfully representing our organization's mission of promoting intercultural dialogue and community engagement through this creative project. Commenting on their experience, the volunteers noted, "The weather in Kokkola can be quite cold in November and December. However, we hardly feel the cold thanks to the warm-hearted attitude of the Villa Elba team and the other international volunteers. It's a fantastic feeling to be here and be part of something that creates a positive impact for the local community."
In addition to the main project activities, the volunteers will also participate in the traditional Saint Lucy's Day festivities on December 13, singing songs in Finnish, Swedish, and English, further embracing the opportunity for intercultural learning.
System & Generation is proud of its representatives for their active involvement and contributions to promoting active citizenship and intercultural understanding in Europe through this valuable project.
