On Sunday, November 2, 2025, S & G volunteers visited the city of Çankırı. Here are some of our volunteers' opinions on the experience:

My visit to Çankırı was a really nice and memorable experience. One of the most interesting places I visited was the Salt Cave — it was truly unique! Walking inside, I could feel the cool air and see the beautiful salt formations shining under the lights. It was calm and a bit mysterious, and I learned that the cave is also known for its health benefits. Besides the Salt Cave, I enjoyed exploring the quiet streets, meeting kind local people, and tasting delicious traditional food. It was a great chance to relax and see a different side of Turkiye.

My visit to Çankırı was a beautiful experience, filled with moments that I’ll remember with pleasure. One of the most interesting places I visited was the salt mine — truly unique! As soon as I walked inside, I felt a different atmosphere: fresh, calm, almost suspended in time. The lights reflecting on the salt surfaces created a fascinating and slightly mysterious environment.

I also visited a traditional Turkish house, which allowed me to discover another, more authentic side of the city — to see how people live, the spaces, and the simple but meaningful details of everyday life. Walking through the quiet streets outside, I met kind and welcoming people, and I tasted delicious traditional dishes.

It was a visit that made me slow down and observe things more peacefully. A chance to discover a quieter, more genuine side of Turkey… one that I will carry with me for a long time.

On November 2, 2025, we visited Çankırı with the ÇASID Association. We left Ankara early in the morning and explored this small but historically rich city. The Salt Cave fascinated me with its natural beauty and impressive salt formations, while the view from Çankırı Castle was absolutely stunning. Visiting the old madrasa gave me a deeper sense of the city’s history and culture. Throughout the day, I took many photos and videos of our team to capture these special moments, which made the trip even more enjoyable. At the end of the day, we tasted delicious local food offered by the municipality and wandered through the charming bazaar filled with traditional houses. Overall, it was a fun, meaningful, and memorable day that helped me feel more connected to our country’s past. (I didn’t take any pictures of myself)

As System and Generation, we had a very enjoyable cultural trip to Çankırı. Throughout the day, I had the opportunity to visit the Salt Cave, Çankırı Cultural Center, and historic stone madrasas. Each place reflected the city's deep-rooted past and cultural richness.
One of the places that impressed me the most was the Ethnography Museum and Radio-TV Museum. The exhibits left a deep impression on me about the history of Çankırı. In addition, our guide was both very knowledgeable and warm; thanks to his narration, every place we visited became more meaningful.
I sincerely thank CASID and the System and Generation Association for providing us with this wonderful opportunity. It was an unforgettable day filled with history, culture, and friendship for me

The visit to the city of Çankırı was undoubtedly very special. Exploring its mysterious old town, visiting its museums, tasting its traditional dishes… It was a truly enriching and unforgettable experience. Moreover, the trip helped me connect more with the other volunteers, which, as a foreigner living in Türkiye, is something I really appreciate.

But the most fascinating part was visiting its underground city — the salt mine. Getting lost among its countless tunnels, enjoying the purifying atmosphere created by the salt, sipping hot tea while admiring the salt sculptures… It was an incredible experience that I highly recommend to everyone.
