Hi everyone!
My name is Francesca and I come from Italy.
Let’s start from the beginning: how we, young people, fell after schooling and before working. We are in equilibrium between the thrill of becoming adults and the uncertainty of a future we are unable to picture.
The decade we just said goodbye to tells us that young people of today and the ruling class of tomorrow are on the march towards a future with indefinite contours, but that offers a story to write.
I just graduated in international cooperation and my educational path made me aware of the desire to take part in this tale. Indeed, despite the different challenges that we face, I believe that being young gives me the advantage of having the strength to commit myself to realize a better future, at least for the people I meet in my lifepath. Thus, in times of lockdown, I decided to spend my time doing volunteering in Ankara within the European Solidarity Corps.
I am aware that my support will be marginal for the needs of Turkish society, but my previous experiences as a youth worker demonstrated to me that taking action brings us closer to our goals than a mile of intention.
I hope that our volunteering activities will boost a chain of mutual help: beneficiaries of today may be the volunteers of tomorrow.
So, remember the UE motto “united we stand, divided we fall” because coming together is a beginning, deciding to stay together is progress and volunteering together is a success.
