I’m Ahmed Nejah, a Tunisian boy who has had a passion for volunteering since an early age. Helping the community is the addiction that gives me my purpose in life. I believe that I can’t find a sense of my existence without helping to change another person’s life. Like Martin Luther King said: “Not everyone can be famous, but everyone can be great because greatness is determined by service. You only need a heart full of grace and a soul generated by love.” This quote changed my life and how I see my worth in life.
I was the introverted, shy kid back in high school, but I always had the urge to create a difference around me, even if it is a little. My first step in the voluntary world is when I decided to become a certified children’s coach that assists vulnerable children to protect them from domestic violence and early school dropout since high school. Later on, I decided to get into a charity club. However, I was rejected, so I founded my own club that accomplished many social actions and helped hundreds of poor people with medical operations, food, clothes during the winter, school furniture, different awareness campaigns, and environmental activities. Being the founder president, I found myself responsible for influencing more people and pass my volunteering passion to them. I started with five members, and now I have more than 50 members working with me to make this world a better place to live in. After graduation, I decided to pursue my career also in the non-profit field. I am currently doing my master's degree in non-governmental organization management, and I succeeded in becoming the youngest United Nations international organization for migrants after nine months of hard work as an intern.
Volunteering in Turkey is a new adventure and an opportunity for me to help outside of my country and my comfort zone. I believe that working with other volunteers from all over the world that share the same values and passions will help me to build a solid experience in the non-profit field and learn a lot.
