Selam!
My name is Arturo, I am a 22-year-old graduate student from Spain. Last year I finished my studies in European Law & International Advocacy in Madrid, Spain.
I have always considered myself an energetic and open-minded person, with diverse interests and passions.
I like the new, the difficult, and the unknown. Being also a homely and familiar person, I love finding joy and comfort in everyday life and the little things.
To me, one of the best feelings is experiencing how an unknown place and its people eventually turn into a home for oneself.
Among my passions are multiculturalism, languages, arts, gastronomy, music, aviation, geography, history, politics, outdoor sports and nature.
Since my childhood I have been part of a scout group, where I have participated in a wide variety of projects and activities in my local community. Moreover, during my time as a university student, I also took part in some volunteering projects on social integration and non-formal education in India and Nepal.
Having just graduated from my bachelor amid these crazy times of pandemic we are living, I opted for taking things slow and seek for new horizons and experiences, which is why I decided to join as a volunteer at S&G in Ankara, and all I can say is I'm really excited and grateful for being part of this amazing team.
Turkey has always been an inspiring and fascinating place for me, and it's hard to put in words how rewarding it is to be taking part in the activities of the organization and embracing the joy of doing something different with new people each day, experiencing life here as a local.
After some familiarity and reflection on this matter, my humble thought is that volunteering should be taken as a lifestyle rather than just an activity or occupation. Volunteering is a strong tool to get rid of prejudices and strengthen our sense of awareness and empathy within our environment, thus, shaping a better version of our own self’s day by day.
Thanks for having me!
